Annotation: The article highlights in detail several definitions of privatization, as the transformation of any form of ownership into private, the process of transition to private ownership of objects based on state, collective or mixed ownership. It is in the legislation that the concept of privatization is enshrined in Article 1 of the Law of Ukraine "On Privatization of State and Municipal Property". The goals of privatization, as well as the procedure for privatization of state and municipal property are highlighted. Implementation of privatization and privatization in different ways, ie there are different ways of transferring property rights from the hands of the state to the hands of individuals. Separation of criteria that led to the emergence of such basic methods of privatization as: corporatization, sale of enterprises and property through a commercial or investment tender, redemption of leased property and crash.
