Annotation: This article examines the current state of social insurance and the main tasks in modern conditions. The main shortcomings of the current system and obstacles that slow down the development of social insurance in Ukraine are highlighted. The need to create an effective model of social development in Ukraine, which is absent at this stage of reforming the country's economy, by increasing the solvency of the population. The main directions of modernization of social insurance of the population in Ukraine based on market conditions and world trends, which will lead to increased efficiency, are identified.
